Experience the show’s atmosphere by playing its music as you read.
“Rhythm” marks my first solo entrance in the aufguss championships, a personal challenge to unleash my inner dancer. Often, guests would ask if I have a dancing background, but I don’t really, I had some dancing in theatre school. But when they would ask me if I did ballet or anything it is the best complement ever. Encouraged by these compliments, I decided to create a dance-themed aufguss. My search for a compelling story led me to a deaf dancer on YouTube, who beautifully illustrated the power of feeling music instead of hearing it. This realization became the soul of my story, a powerful reminder of the unbreakable spirit within us and the truth that anything is possible when you dare to believe and commit wholeheartedly.
In “Rhythm,” I brought to life the story of a gifted dancer whose dreams were shattered when she unexpectedly lost her hearing after earning a spot at a big dance academy. Unable to see how she could dance without hearing the music, the academy rejected her, leaving her heartbroken.
In the middle of her sadness, she found a new way to connect with music. She sat next to a speaker and felt the sound vibrations on her skin. Through those vibrations, she learned to count the beats in a completely different way. With new determination, she went back to the academy and shared a bold idea: to dance by feeling the music.
Her audition was set to deep bass sounds that filled the sauna cabin. She showed her new way of dancing and her strong spirit. In an emotional ending, her passion and strength moved the academy. They welcomed her back, showing that rhythm isn’t just about sound it’s something you feel inside.
“Rhythm” showcases the incredible power of human determination and the ability to adapt when faced with life’s toughest challenges. This aufguss performance relied on a thoughtful combination of props and technology to bring its story to life. A large screen became a key storytelling element, displaying hearing tests and simulating the dancer’s communication with the academy, adding depth and relatability to the narrative.
DMX programmable lights played a crucial role in highlighting key moments, such as the powerful scene where the dancer touched the speaker, triggering a spotlight that emphasized the importance of her discovery. Every detail was designed to pull the audience into her world, making them feel each step of her journey.
The story of this brave dancer leaves a lasting impact, reminding us all that challenges can be transformed into opportunities. I am very proud to call “Rhythm” my very first solo show, and with the beautiful message within, will this show always have a special place in my heart.
