2024 WM winning duo show

Hide & Seek

Dive into our journey that began as a comedy, but quickly turned into a challenge to create the complete opposite – a horror story filled with unexpected twists.

Origin of the show

experience the show’s atmosphere by playing its music as you read (start from 0.20)

Two and a half years ago, Whitney became my new colleague, but we quickly became best friends. Not long after, we knew we wanted to create a show together. Whitney and I are always joking around, so initially, we aimed to create a comedy show. However, the ideas just didn’t click, and we felt stuck.

Then we looked at each other and said, “Why not do the complete opposite of what people expect from us? Why not try horror?” That’s when the idea was born, and suddenly everything started to flow. In no time, we had chosen our music and developed our storyline. It’s the greatest feeling when all the puzzle pieces fall into place.

Working together was such a joy, and we really pushed each other to improve our acting and performance skills. Performing the show for the first time at the Netherlands Championship was an incredible experience. The encouragement from our friends and colleagues was overwhelming.

We had worked so hard on this show, and it was all worth it to draw people into our horror story and transport them to another world for 14 minutes.

Storyline

The story begins with two sisters, Lily and Lucy, moving with their mother to a new home. There are rumors about the house, suggesting it might be haunted. However, the girls are unaware of this and are only focused on playing games in the garden. Their mother tells them they can play but warns them to be inside the house before the lantern turns on.

The first round is lighthearted, showing the playful bond between the sisters.
At the end of the first round, the lantern starts to flicker. The girls hurry back to the front door, but before they can enter, the lantern fully lights up, and the girls freeze in place. Suddenly, everything goes black in the cabin. When the lights return, the girls are no longer where they were—they have mysteriously moved and are now staring at the lantern. Their expressions have changed, and a creepy atmosphere fills the cabin.

In the second round, we reveal that the girls are now possessed, and their movements align with the rhythm of the music, adding eerie, detailed waves to the performance.
At the end of the second round, Lily (Sigrid) snaps back to normal, but Lucy (Whitney) remains acting strangely. Lily tries to connect with her sister, but Lucy doesn’t respond. Once again, the cabin turns completely dark. When the lights return, Lucy has disappeared, leaving Lily frightened and alone. She hears Lucy’s voice: “Can you find me…? I’m right behind you…”

Then, on the epic beat of the music, Lucy appears, fully possessed, emerging from the well and advancing toward Lily.
Terrified, Lily runs, screaming for her mother, until Lucy throws her towel across the room, over the stove. When Lily catches the towel, she too becomes possessed again.

This final round is all about their epic possession and synchronization, working together in perfect harmony.
As the music reaches its climax, the girls suddenly return to normal, trembling in fear and confusion over what just happened. Their mother calls out for them to come inside. But as they approach the door, they find it locked. They scream to be let in, only for the music to change once more.

With one last possessed glare toward the audience, they invite them to go outside with them.
