That’s exactly what happened at the Aufguss.it Modern Classic Friends Challenge – an event that beautifully blended tradition with camaraderie. After being postponed for two long years due to the pandemic, the wait was finally over. It was time to reconnect, share experiences, and rediscover the beauty of the classics.

This event had a beautifully simple idea: to honor the classic way of aufguss rituals without flashy performances or gimmicks. In a world obsessed with trends, it was refreshing to see a tribute to tradition, focusing on the authentic art of heat, steam, and natural aromas.

Masters as Judges, Friends as Competition

What made this event truly unique was the jury – the aufgussmasters themselves. They not only participated but also took turns as judges, just like in official championships. This rotation gave them firsthand experience of how challenging it is to judge their peers. It added a layer of respect and understanding to the competition.

Adding humor to the mix, Pang’s playful introductions kept the atmosphere light and joyful. After each aufguss session, everyone gathered in the Yoga room to reflect and share feedback. It was a chance for performers to learn and for judges to appreciate the complexity of evaluation.

A Friendly Tournament

True to its name, the Friends Challenge was all about friendship and unity. The atmosphere was warm and supportive, with participants cheering each other on and sharing tips. Interestingly, some felt more nervous knowing fellow masters were in the audience—proof of the high respect they held for each other’s craft.

Heartfelt Recognition

The most heartwarming moment came when the aufgussmasters awarded me second place in the tournament! Receiving recognition from experts who live and breathe sauna, was incredibly rewarding. It was a reminder of the beauty of tradition, friendship, and shared passion.
